Description
The Grand Cru “Shaman” Rosé Brut Nature from the Marguet winery is an Champagne of extreme elegance and complexity, produced in Ambonnay, in the Montagne de Reims district in the Champagne-Ardenne region of France. It is mainly made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes sourced from the Grand Cru vineyards of Ambonnay and Bouzy. The vines, with an average age of about 42 years, are trained in the espalier method with single and double guyot on hilly terrains characterized by calcareous soils rich in chalky gravel. The winery, which owns about 8 hectares of vineyards, was founded in 2008 by Benoît Marguet, who wanted to create an independent company, drawing the attention of enthusiasts for the unconventional style and biodynamic approach adopted in the vineyard and winery.
Produced with selected grapes harvested by hand when they reach the perfect balance between sugars and acidity. The bunches are brought to the winery and subjected to direct pressing for the Chardonnay, while the Pinot Noir undergoes a slight maceration on the skins to extract the color. After alcoholic fermentation in Bordeaux barriques and oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, the refermentation occurs in the bottle on its own yeasts for at least 24 months.
This Champagne has a bright onion-skin pink color and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of yellow fruit, citrus, peach, pomegranate, and watermelon, along with floral notes of red flowers, spicy scents, and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is enveloping, fresh, complex, and very expressive, fine and creamy.
Perfect to enjoy on its own or paired with refined dishes of fish and seafood, fresh cheeses, and light appetizers.
