Description

What kind of wine is it

Blanc Caparaçon by Ravoire is a white wine made from Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, and Bourboulenc, sourced from the Rhône Valley. The style is fresh and broad, with good length and a mineral finish. The brief maceration, fermentation in barriques, and aging on fine lees provide structure and precision, while maintaining a smooth and well-defined drinkability.

Where it comes from

It is born in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the southern Rhône Valley, a historic area of the appellation. Ravoire has operated for generations between the Rhône and Provence with two locations, one in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and one in Salon-de-Provence, testifying to a deep-rooted connection with the land. The Olivier Ravoire line recalls the family history linked to a 16th-century captain, while the name Caparaçon refers to a medieval ornamental armor.

How it is produced

The grapes are hand-harvested and subjected to a short maceration, followed by pressing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place directly in barriques, a choice that contributes to a broader texture. The cuvée then ages in barriques on the fine lees for ten months, thus consolidating body and aromatic definition through consistent use of wood.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays an intense and bright straw yellow. The nose focuses on floral aromas of honeysuckle and smoky notes, with a clear profile. On the palate, the sip is fresh and broad, with a steady progression and lingering persistence; the finish is mineral, long, and clean.

Food pairings

It pairs well with fish and shellfish dishes, enhancing both simple and more elaborate preparations. The freshness goes well with the marine flavor, and the breadth supports meatier textures, such as crustaceans and cuttlefish. It is also suitable for baked or stewed fish dishes, when a white wine with a mineral finish is desired.

When to serve it

This is a white wine suitable for moments dedicated to seafood cuisine, from aperitif through to the main course. Served chilled, it highlights floral and smoky notes, allowing the dynamic sip to come to the fore. The barrique and aging on fine lees add breadth without losing definition, making it ideal for convivial occasions that value balance and lasting minerality.
