Description
This Chianti Classico from Castello di Radda originates in the heart of the appellation, in the municipality of Radda in Chianti, at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. It is crafted from a typical Tuscan blend predominated by Sangiovese, complemented by Canaiolo and Colorino, which enhance its structure and complexity. The vineyards enjoy optimal exposures – south, southeast, and southwest – and are developed on clay-limestone soils with a good presence of siliceous skeleton.
The grapes, hand-selected both in the vineyard and on sorting tables, are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with a skin maceration of two to three weeks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in both steel and oak barrels, contributing to greater taste harmony. Aging occurs partly in tonneaux and partly in large barrels of French and Slavonian oak, followed by a period in the bottle before commercialization.
In appearance, it features an intense ruby color with garnet hints. The nose reveals intense varietal aromas with scents of violet, balsamic notes, and mineral hints of graphite. The taste is harmonious and savory, characterized by a pleasant aftertaste of ripe fruit and plum, with a present but well-integrated tannic structure that refines over time.
It pairs perfectly with red and white meats, such as hunter-style rabbit, roast guinea fowl with aromatic herbs, or Tuscan-style braised beef.
