Description
This is a Tuscan extra virgin olive oil, made from the olive trees owned by Vallepicciola, a young estate located in the Pievasciata area, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena.
Vallepicciola’s extra virgin olive oil is produced from the Moraiolo, Leccino and Frantoio cultivars. The olives are usually harvested by hand starting in early November. Milling is mechanical, with cold pressing and centrifugation, followed by filtration.
It has an elegant, smooth taste, with a pronounced peppery note that tends to diminish after a few months’ rest in the bottle. It also features herbaceous and slightly bitter notes.
This extra virgin olive oil is excellent used raw to dress all kinds of dishes, for example bruschetta and pappa al pomodoro.
