Description
What kind of wine is it
Chianti Biologico by Ruffino is a red wine made from Sangiovese, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with grapes sourced from the Chianti area in Tuscany. Vinification takes place in steel tanks with maceration, followed by aging in steel, cement, and bottle, resulting in a clean, balanced style focused on freshness, fruit, and moderate tannins, designed to offer versatility at the table.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Ruffino’s vineyards in the Chianti area of Tuscany, situated on hills with an average altitude of 250 meters. Galestro soils define the pedoclimatic context in which the grapes mature, contributing to an expression centered on freshness and a clear expression of the fruit.
How it is made
After harvest, the grapes ferment in steel tanks for 10 days, with skin maceration and pumping-over to achieve controlled extraction. This is followed by several months of aging in steel and cement, a choice that preserves the fruity character without wood influence. Before release, the wine spends 3 months in the bottle to harmonize the overall profile.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it appears ruby red with purple highlights. The nose offers medium intensity, with hints of violet and cherry. On the palate, it is compact and fruity, supported by notable freshness; tannins are moderate and accompany a medium-long, balanced and smooth finish.
Food pairing
At the table, it pairs naturally with red meats, where freshness and moderate tannins enhance succulence. It is recommended with pasta dishes with ragù sauce and with tasty appetizers featuring aged cheeses and fresh cured meats, bringing out the fruity character and solid structure.
When to serve
It is suitable for everyday occasions and complete meals, when you want a fresh and fruity red with a present yet balanced structure. The aging in steel and cement, followed by bottle rest, makes it ready and pleasant at the time of release. It expresses itself best during lunches and dinners with ragù, red meats, and tastings of cured meats and cheeses, accompanying the whole meal without weighing it down.
