Description
What kind of wine it is
Colognole Chianti Rùfina is a red wine from the province of Florence, made mainly from Sangiovese with a contribution of Colorino. The winemaking involves temperature-controlled fermentation and aging in wood with different times for the two grape varieties, followed by a period in the bottle. The result is a full-bodied style with good structure, a fruity profile, and well-integrated oak notes.
Where it comes from
It originates from the small area of Chianti Rùfina, in the province of Florence, in the heart of Tuscany. The compact size of the area defines a precise origin for the wines that bear this name and contributes to a recognizable identity, focused on reds of good intensity and suited for the table.
How it is produced
Sangiovese and Colorino macerate on the skins for 10–12 days at 27 °C with frequent punching down and pump-overs. After fermentation, Sangiovese ages for 15 months in Slavonian and French oak casks, while Colorino rests for 12 months in second-use Allier oak barriques. It is then aged in the bottle, designed to harmonize the oak contribution with the varietal profile.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby red of good intensity. On the nose, clear fruity aromas stand out, accompanied by well-blended wood notes. On the palate it is full-bodied, with good structure and an orderly progression where fruit and oak remain in balance.
Food pairings
It shines on the table with first courses featuring meat ragù, where its structure supports the richness of the sauce. It is also suitable for char-grilled or grilled meats, thanks to its full flavor and flavorful presence, while maintaining drinkability typical of the style.
When to serve
This red is meant for meals, ideal when you are looking for a solid match for meat dishes and flavorful preparations, from family lunches to traditional dinners. Its fruity profile with well-integrated oak, good structure, and the subsequent bottle aging make it a reliable choice to accompany ragù-based first courses and grilled meats.
