Description

What type of wine it is

In Violas by Poliziano is a red wine made from 100% Merlot, showcasing the potential of this international variety in the Cortona area.

Where it comes from

The vineyards are located in the Cortona area, on Pliocene clays that strongly shape the wine’s profile.

How it is made

This 100% Merlot ferments in truncated conical vats for 18–22 days with skin maceration. It then ages for 16–18 months in French oak barriques.

Tasting notes

It shows a ruby red color. The bouquet evokes notes of cherry, vanilla and oak, accented by subtle hints of tobacco. The palate is elegant and intense, with a long, lingering finish.

Food pairing

Perfect with braised or grilled red meats and ideal alongside a platter of aged cheeses.

When to serve it

Serve at around 18 °C, allowing a brief time to breathe before drinking. Suited to special-occasion dinners, paired with structured red‑meat dishes.
