Côtes de Provence AOC Cru Classé Rosé 2022 Château Galoupet
Description
Château Galoupet's Cru Classé Rosé wine is the first Cru Classé de Provence in the Moët Hennessy portfolio. The property is made up of 77 hectares of protected woods and 69 hectares of vineyards undergoing organic conversion since 2020. In 2019, the estate was re-founded with the aim of expressing all the richness of the soil and terroir in wine, but also of the flora and of the local fauna. The Château aims to become an oasis for biodiversity and an organic viticulture project, and therefore an example of sustainability for Moët Hennessy. In partnership with three local expert associations, Château Galoupet is deepening its knowledge and understanding of the impact of biodiversity on the vineyard and wines. Additionally, the property is home to 200 beehives and one of only 12 queen bee fertilization stations in the world.
Located on the French Riviera, the estate stands in the so-called "Crystalline Provence", one of the oldest geological formations in the region. It boasts its own microclimate and three different soil types. Here native vines such as Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle, Semillon, Syrah and Tibouren find their home, a typical and very rare variety.
While maintaining high quality standards, no compromises are made on the environmental impact: from the soils to the recycled bottle (the bottle is 70% recycled amber glass and weighs only 499 grams), each element has been designed to be in perfect harmony with nature, to best serve the terroir and the generations to come.
This Cru Classé Rosé comes from proprietary grapes from 41 plots, vinified individually. It is made from Grenache, Syrah, Tibouren, Rolle, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Cabernet and Sémillon grapes. 38% of the wines used for the final blend were vinified and aged for 4-5 months in 600l barrels (50% new and 50% one year old).
Soft pink in color, the nose is complex and intense, with aromas of flowers, peach, bitter almonds and citrus notes. The sip is dense, round and generous, with a long and mineral finish.
An excellent companion throughout the meal, it goes well with lamb cutlets with aromatic herbs but also with Asian cuisine, such as Thai-style spicy green curry.
