Description

What kind of wine is it?

Luigi Pira's Dolcetto d’Alba is a red wine made exclusively from Dolcetto grapes from the Langhe. It offers a fresh, straightforward style with medium body and a fruity profile. Vinification in stainless steel at a controlled temperature and exclusive aging in steel tanks preserve the fruit’s vibrancy, providing a direct and pleasant sip.

Where does it come from?

It originates on the hills of Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe. This area has a historic vocation for viticulture, which the Pira family has cultivated since the 1950s.

How is it produced?

The Dolcetto grapes reach full maturity, then undergo destemming and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine ages for 8-9 months in steel, without any contact with wood, thus preserving its freshness and varietal aromas.

Tasting notes

It displays an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, notes of dried rose, cherry, and small red fruits emerge alongside delicate floral hints. On the palate, it offers aromatic freshness, sweet and well-integrated tannins, a medium body, and balanced acidity. The finish is harmonious, with lingering flavors of ripe red fruit.

Food pairings

Luigi Pira's Dolcetto d’Alba pairs well with dishes from Piedmont and Emilia. It enhances the savoriness of penne with ragù and accompanies braised meats. Excellent with agnolotti del plin and bagna cauda; it also works well with mushroom-based recipes and soft cheeses, thanks to its balance of freshness and smoothness.

When to serve

It is best to enjoy this Dolcetto d’Alba young, within the first three years, to appreciate its vibrancy and varietal aromas. Its good structure and balanced acidity also allow for pleasant evolution up to the fourth year.
