Description
This red wine from Adega Vila Real in the Douro region is made with indigenous Portuguese grapes such as Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional, selected from traditional vineyards located between 100 and 550 meters of altitude, on schist soils facing south and west. The aim is to achieve a perfect balance between aromatic intensity, structure, and freshness.
The grapes are hand-picked, destemmed, and vinified in stainless steel tanks with temperature control around 24°C. Maceration is intense and prolonged to give greater structure and volume to the wine. After malolactic fermentation, part of the mass is aged for 12 months mainly in French oak barrels, with a small portion in American oak.
The wine appears ruby with garnet reflections. On the nose, it releases intense aromas of ripe red fruit accompanied by elegant spicy notes. On the palate, it is velvety, full-bodied, and well-balanced, with a long and satisfying finish that reflects the complexity of the varieties and the influence of the wood.
Ideal paired with hearty dishes from traditional Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine such as grilled meat, smoked pork, or roasted lamb.
