Description
What kind of wine is it
Bariselli’s Franciacorta Satén is a Traditional Method sparkling wine made exclusively from Chardonnay. It combines elegance and creaminess, with a fine perlage and a bright yellow hue. It is the softest style in the estate’s range, with a delicate, harmonious palate.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from two estate plots in the municipality of Erbusco, in Franciacorta. The vineyards are on hillsides, mostly south-facing. The soils are of pluvio-glacial origin with a predominance of morainic material, rich in stones, well-drained, well-exposed and always breezy.
How it is made
The Chardonnay is hand-harvested between the second and the fourth week of August. The grapes are vinified as a white wine with gentle pressing and the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The base wine rests in tank until the spring following the harvest, then it is bottled for the secondary fermentation in bottle. The bottles age for at least twenty-four months in the cellar before remuage, and after disgorgement they rest a further three months before release.
Tasting notes
The color is bright yellow with a fine, elegant perlage. On the nose it is intense and harmonious, with notes of fresh fruit and citrus. On the palate it is delicate and creamy, with a softness that sets it apart from the other Franciacorta wines of the winery.
What to pair it with
It is suitable as an aperitif and with delicate dishes: risottos with vegetables or fish, fish carpaccio, molluscs and crustaceans. It also goes well with white meats, fresh cheeses and seafood starters. Its creaminess pairs nicely with preparations featuring cream or butter.
When to serve it
This is the Franciacorta for those who prefer a soft, rounded style, for aperitifs, toasts and light meals. Serve in a large, wide-bowled glass, which lets the fruit and citrus aromas emerge. It can also be enjoyed throughout the meal, thanks to the balance between freshness and creaminess.
