Description
What kind of wine it is
Franciacorta Extra Brut by Berlucchi is a Franciacorta made with the Traditional Method from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This white wine has a fresh and smooth style, with elegant structure and defined body. The first fermentation takes place in stainless steel, then the wine ages on the lees for 24 months and rests further after disgorgement. The result is a lively and balanced Franciacorta, ideal for those looking for a precise and clean profile.
Where it comes from
Franciacorta Extra Brut by Berlucchi comes from the morainic hills of Franciacorta, in Lombardy, south of Lake Iseo. A favorable microclimate and significant temperature variations promote delicate aromas. The glacial-origin soils, rich in minerals, contribute freshness and savoriness.
How it is produced
Grapes are handpicked, selecting only the healthiest bunches. After a gentle and fractional pressing, the must ferments at controlled temperature in stainless steel. The blending of base wines comes before the prise de mousse, following the Traditional Method, with a second fermentation in bottle. The aging on the lees lasts 24 months, followed by further bottle aging after disgorgement, resulting in a defined aromatic profile and fine bubbles.
Tasting notes
Straw yellow with greenish highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose reveals white-fleshed fruits, fresh almond, and light notes of bread crust. On the palate, it offers citrusy freshness, a smooth texture, and a balance between acidity and density. The finish is long and clean, with hints of lemon zest and a subtle yeast note.
Food pairing
Highly versatile at the table, it suits aperitifs with fresh cheeses and delicate cold cuts, seafood first courses, butter risottos, and white meat mains. It matches Lombard specialties such as casoncelli alla bergamasca and lake fish like char and baked perch. Its acidity and structure support dishes featuring shellfish and mollusks.
When to serve it
Serve well chilled to enhance its citrus components and freshness. Ready to drink, but it can stay in the cellar for a few years after disgorgement, maintaining its liveliness. Suitable for convivial moments and special occasions, it complements both aperitifs and full meals.
