Friuli Colli Orientali DOC Pignolo 2010 La Tunella

The Friuli Colli Orientali Pignolo of the La Tunella winery was born in vineyards located in the heart of the Friulian hills. Thanks to their unmistakable style, La Tunella wines are the perfect expression of the terroir.

It is produced exclusively with Pignolo grapes, harvested only by hand during the first week of October. After a soft pressing, the grapes ferment with indigenous yeasts in contact with the skins for about 20 days. During this process frequent pumping over is carried out with the aim of obtaining an intense color and the noble components typical of an important red. Subsequently the wine ages in barrique for about 5 years and for a further period in the bottle.

It is characterized by an intense ruby red color, with garnet reflections. The nose opens with an intense spicy bouquet, with hints of tobacco and cocoa, enriched with pleasant balsamic notes. On the palate it is dense, full of character and pleasantly enveloping. The wine has a fresh and balanced body, with thick and elegant tannins.

Perfect to accompany game and roasts, it is ideal in combination with stewed meats and aged cheeses.
