Description

What type of wine is it?

ZamòRosso di Le Vigne di Zamò is a red wine from Friuli Colli Orientali created from a blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. Vinification takes place with fermentation in steel tanks, followed by aging in large oak barrels, resulting in a clear, immediately accessible style. The profile remains fruity and straightforward, with a measured structure and immediate drinkability, supported by cellar choices that provide aromatic clarity and balance.

Where does it come from?

Friuli Colli Orientali refers to a hilly area in the eastern part of Friuli, known for wines with good aromatic precision and a regular tannic texture. The area is characterized by a temperate climate and temperature variations that promote gradual ripening and preserve fruit definition. The marl and sandstone soils contribute to a dry mouthfeel and an overall balanced profile.

How is it made?

The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel macerators with skins for about 10–12 days, with punching down, délestage and pump-overs that modulate the extraction of color, aromas and tannins. After racking, the wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks and the pomace is pressed; malolactic fermentation occurs in steel. This is followed by 6 months of aging in large oak barrels, before final blending and bottling the following month.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a ruby red color. On the nose, it offers vibrant notes of red fruit, with hints of cherry and raspberry, accompanied by a floral touch of violet. The sip is direct and immediate, with a steady progression and a clean finish, supported by moderate tannins and a balance designed for smoothness.

Food pairings

It pairs easily with flavorful and hearty first courses, especially those with rich sauces that call for a bright, fruity red. It is also suitable with braised or grilled fish, where its restrained profile remains food-friendly. Works well with white meats and with fresh or semi-aged cheeses, complementing a mixed grill harmoniously.

When to serve it

It is suitable for many occasions, from informal lunches to dinners where a balanced and immediately enjoyable red is desired. Its straightforward character and fruity profile make it ideal when notes of cherry, raspberry and violet are especially appreciated. The time spent in large oak barrels supports the palate without weighing it down, allowing for an easy, flowing drink throughout the meal.
