Description

What kind of wine is it?

Gattinara Vigna Valferana by Nervi Conterno is a still red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo. It comes from Alto Piemonte and expresses the Gattinara appellation with a dry and elegant profile, in which structure and precision combine with a clear mineral character.

Where does it come from?

The grapes come from Valferana, an area characterized by porphyry and soils rich in iron, which helps define the wine’s terroir. The vineyard's identity is reflected in a savory flavor profile and iron nuances that recall the Valferana area and its distinct porphyritic character.

How is it produced?

Produced with artisanal care designed to enhance Nebbiolo’s character. The wine matures for 12 months in tonneaux and 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks, a process that supports gradual maturation, complexity, and aging potential.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a garnet red color with orange reflections. The bouquet opens with wilted rose and currant, touched by balsamic overtones. On the palate, it is elegant and savory, supported by pronounced minerality and subtle hints of iron and white pepper echoing the soil.

Food pairings

This wine naturally pairs well with game and red meats, its dry structure complementing rich dishes. It is also suitable for aged cheeses, which enhance its savoriness and lingering taste.

When to serve it

A suitable choice when looking for a red wine with structure and definition, capable of expressing its aromatic detail and mineral edge. Serve after proper aeration to give space to varietal notes and earthy nuances, maintaining an elegant and precise flavor profile.
