Description

Octomore 16.1 is a single malt Scotch whisky produced on the Isle of Islay, known for its intensely peaty character and extraordinary aromatic complexity. This spirit combines the strength of the Scottish landscape with surprising elegance, offering a bold yet refined profile. It is crafted from a careful selection of barley and pure spring water, preserving the powerful identity of Bruichladdich's .1 line.

The production follows traditional methods, with slow distillation in copper stills and maturation in carefully selected casks to enhance the peaty structure without overwhelming the more delicate notes. Attention to detail during the aging process results in a balanced spirit where sweet and briny components harmonize with typical Islay smokiness.

On the nose, it opens with briny notes and orchard fruits, accompanied by a light yet persistent smokiness. Dry floral scents, vanilla, and toasted almond emerge, with spicy hints of cedar, smoked paprika, and iodine. On the palate, the peat reveals itself immediately but smoothly, followed by salted caramel, melon, apricot, and malty sugars with cinnamon and star anise. The finish is long, dominated by peat, with black pepper, toffee, and sea salt closing in perfect balance.

Ideal to savor slowly in a quiet evening moment, when the mind is ready to embrace every sensory nuance with attention and depth.
