Description

Moscato d’Asti Moncucco is a sweet aromatic wine produced by Fontanafredda, originating from the Moncucco cru located in Santo Stefano Belbo, in the heart of the province of Cuneo. This historic hill, characterized by steep slopes and medium-textured soils with outcrops of marl and sand, is one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of Moscato Bianco, thanks to the ventilated climate and marked temperature variations.

The winemaking process involves manual harvesting, with part of the grapes destemmed and subjected to cryomaceration at 5°C for 12 hours. After gentle pressing, the free-run juice is fermented until it reaches 5.5% vol. The wine remains on fine lees for at least 10 months, enriching in complexity and gaining a surprising aging capacity.

In the glass, it appears straw yellow with golden reflections and an aromatic bouquet ranging from ripe pear, white peach, and honey, to acacia flowers, lime, orange, sage, and lemon. On the palate, it is dense, full, and harmonious, with acidic freshness and a slight petillant that enhances its drinkability. The finish is of very long persistence and recalls the ripe pulp of freshly picked grapes.

It pairs elegantly with cheeses, foie gras, glazed meats, caramelized and fried vegetables, and is perfect as an after-meal wine and in accompaniment to desserts.
