Description
Corral de los Altos is a wine that is part of the Viña Zorzal company's line dedicated to expressing the terroir, originating from a single plot located on a rocky plateau exposed to northern winds known as "cierzo." This site stands out for its pedoclimatic characteristics compared to the southern parcel, separated by native vegetation in the process of recovery. The vineyard, spread over 2.1 hectares and with 43-year-old plants, offers an authentic and distinctive expression of Navarra Garnacha.
The winemaking process involves alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging for 9 months in second-use French oak barrels. The minimal and respectful approach to the grapes allows the varietal profile and the character of the original site to be highlighted.
The wine is medium ruby in color and brilliance. On the nose, fresh and intense aromas of black fruits like blackberry and blackcurrant stand out, accompanied by notes of black pepper, cedar, and earthy nuances. On the palate, it is dry, fresh, with soft tannins and medium body; flavors of black fruit, mineral accents, and a persistent finish emerge.
It pairs excellently with game dishes, stews, cured ham, and red meats.
