Description

Finca El Otero is a red wine of great character produced by Viñedos y Bodegas Áster in the Ribera del Duero, made from 100% Tinta del País grapes grown in the El Otero plot, situated on clay-loam slopes at 850 meters altitude. It is the most classic and bold expression of the territory, capable of combining power and elegance in a refined balance.

The harvest is done manually with collection in small boxes, followed by an optical selection of the grapes. After a week of cold maceration to enhance aromas and color, the malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, with weekly bâtonnage of the fine lees for 72 days. Aging continues for 16 months in French oak barrels, with two manual rackings, before selecting the best barrels for bottling.

Visually, it presents an intense crimson color with garnet reflections. The aromatic profile is complex and intense, dominated by ripe dark fruits like blackberry and blackcurrant, enriched with spicy notes of tobacco leaf, white pepper, nutmeg, and licorice. Mineral aromas blend with hints of precious wood, cedar, mocha, and coffee beans, and with nuances of undergrowth. On the palate, it is full, flavorful, with an elegant entry, a soft and fleshy mid-palate, and a balanced finish with spicy and balsamic echoes.

It pairs perfectly with roasted red meats, oven-baked lamb, suckling pig, and aged cheeses.
