Description
Aiurri is a red wine that embodies the essence of the Leza region, located at the foot of the Sierra de Toloño in Rioja Alavesa. It comes from small plots of old vines with different altitudes, exposures, and soil structures, immersed in a unique microclimate combining Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. It is a municipal wine of Leza, the result of blending several vineyards, mostly cultivated with Tempranillo, but also Graciano, Garnacha, white varieties and other lesser-known native varieties.
The vinification is done separately for each plot, with manual harvesting followed by double selection of bunches and berries. The production process is gravity-fed to preserve the integrity of the raw material as much as possible. Fermentations are spontaneous, with delicate extractions and strictly controlled temperatures. The wine is aged for sixteen months in French oak barrels of various sizes, followed by an additional four months in concrete tanks after the final blending.
The wine features remarkable expressiveness and finesse, elegantly expressing the character of each individual vineyard. On the nose, there are intense aromas of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, and light balsamic notes. On the palate, it is structured and harmonious, with fine tannins and a persistent finish that gives way to mineral and fresh sensations.
Ideal to pair with grilled or roasted red meats.
