Description
The Gran Reserva 890 is a prestigious red wine produced by La Rioja Alta, made from the Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo varieties grown in the renowned vineyards of Briñas, Labastida, Villalba, and Fuenmayor. It expresses the timeless elegance of Rioja tradition, skillfully combining native grape varieties with a production philosophy focused on quality and longevity.
The vinification involves manual harvesting of the grapes in crates, followed by refrigerated transport to the winery. After a gentle destemming and crushing, alcoholic fermentation takes place in tanks, followed by a natural malolactic fermentation. Aging occurs over six years in oak barrels, with numerous traditional rackings, and concludes in the bottle without filtration to fully preserve the wine's aromatic expression.
In appearance, it shows a garnet red color of medium intensity with iodine-like reflections. The olfactory bouquet is wide and complex, characterized by hints of cherry jam, black plums, tobacco leaf, cinnamon, vanilla, pepper, and cocoa powder. On the palate, it is distinguished by the fineness of its tannins, balanced freshness, and long persistence, offering an elegant and enveloping taste experience.
It pairs perfectly with meat stews with aromatic herbs, delicate dishes with light sauces, or chocolate-based desserts.
