Description
What kind of wine is it
Rioja Reserva Remelluri is a red wine made from a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano. It ferments in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts and ages for 20–21 months in oak barrels of different sizes, offering a structured yet smooth style, supported by freshness and polished tannins.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Labastida in Álava and San Vicente de la Sonsierra, two areas of Rioja. The vineyards are located on clay-limestone soils with sandstone and marl subsoils; the vines have an average age of 40 years.
How it's made
The harvest is manual between late October and early November. Fermentation takes place naturally with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks; this is followed by 20–21 months of aging in oak barrels of various sizes, which integrates toasted and spicy notes while keeping the palate lively.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows an intense ruby red color. The nose reveals ripe fruit, with hints of cherry and plum, along with toasted and spicy notes. On the palate it is fresh, with polished tannins and a finish where oak nuances return.
Food pairings
It pairs well with first courses, red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Its structure and freshness support rich and savory dishes, while the toasted and spicy notes complement roasted or grilled preparations.
When to serve it
Recommended when you are looking for a red with a mature and precise profile, ideal for lunches and dinners with meat, game, or aged cheeses. The network of polished tannins, freshness, and oak aging accompany a full meal in perfect balance.
