Description
What kind of wine it is
Rioja Viñedos de Rivas de Tereso from the Lindes de Remelluri line is a red wine from Rioja Alavesa, created with the aim of enhancing the distinctiveness of the villages surrounding the historic estate. Made predominantly from Tempranillo, with the addition of Garnacha and other native varieties, this wine offers an authentic and well-defined territorial interpretation. The organoleptic profile combines freshness and structure, as it is characterized by a fine tannic texture and precise palate progression, the result of careful aging in French oak.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards in the village of Rivas de Tereso, an area selected to represent the geological diversity of Rioja Alavesa. The vines are located at altitudes between 634 and 702 meters, rooted in clay-limestone soils with abundant stones. These unique pedoclimatic conditions favor the development of a distinct aromatic profile, giving the wine great tension and a clear mineral imprint.
How it is produced
Vinification involves a spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel carried out exclusively by indigenous yeasts, a process that preserves the varietal identity of the grapes. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels of varying sizes and ages. This aging technique harmonizes the structure and stabilizes the flavor without masking the expression of the land, ensuring balance among the components.
Tasting notes
On the nose, this red is clear and concentrated, offering aromas of cherries and blueberries accompanied by floral notes and herbal hints. On the palate, it stands out for being vibrant and flavorful, with expressive, fine-grained tannins providing elegance to the sip. The finish is long and consistent, marked by a persistent mineral note that reflects the complexity of its stony soils.
Pairings
It pairs naturally with artisanal cured meats and aged cheeses, thanks to its ability to cleanse the palate with pleasant freshness. At the table, it goes well with roast meats and intense preparations like cordero asado or jamón curado, typical Spanish dishes. Its structure also makes it suitable for rich dishes such as a meat paella, where its aromatic component and savoriness enhance the flavors of the food.
When to serve it
This is a red ideal for convivial dinners or gastronomic occasions where a balance between drinkability and character is desired. The presence of wood aging and the quality of the tannins also make it suitable for cellaring, allowing for consumption over time. It can be served when the menu includes substantial land-based dishes, allowing the fruit notes and the typical minerality of the terroir to emerge.
