Description
Rosso di Montalcino is produced by the Fagnani company, whose vineyards for the production of typical Tuscan reds extend for 4 hectares. The Fagnani wine labels, dedicated to the village of Montalcino, are signed by the artists Daniele Cestari and Luca Greghi.
The Sangiovese grapes are harvested manually at the end of September. The harvest is followed by fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature for 15–20 days, with frequent pumping over. Ageing follows in small Slavonian oak barrels and in French oak barrels for about 12 months. The wine rests for 3 months in the bottle before being marketed.
Intense ruby red color, the wine opens on the nose with aromas of berries, blueberries, currants, strawberries and raspberries. The taste is warm and dry, with a good persistence.
Ideal in combination with pasta with meat sauce, roast pork and both fresh and semi-aged cheeses.
