Description
The Chardonnay One-Sixteen by Kosta Browne originates from the cooler areas of the Russian River Valley, where the marine influence from the Pacific coast ensures cool nights and slow, progressive ripening. The selected vineyards, including Winner's Circle, Zio Tony Ranch, and Ritchie, benefit from these ideal conditions that allow for fruit with intensely defined aromas, reflecting the purity and balance of the terroir.
The grapes are whole-cluster pressed and spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts both in alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, enhancing the wine's complexity. The fermentation occurs primarily in barrels and foudre. Aging continues for 14 months in new French oak barrels, with a small portion in Austrian oak, and subsequently for six months in stainless steel to provide greater balance and freshness.
On the nose, it opens with intense aromas of fresh mango, candied lemon peel, and toasted brioche. On the palate, it is surprisingly balanced, with a refined structure, vibrant acidity, and a light finish.
It pairs magnificently with grilled fish dishes or shellfish with light sauces.
