Description
What type of wine is it
Salento Rosso Bascià by Notte Rossa is a structured and harmonious red wine. It ferments in steel and ages in oak barrels, processes that provide soft tannins and intense fruity aromas. The balance between body and freshness suits those seeking a robust yet well-balanced profile.
Where it comes from
Bascià Notte Rossa originates in the heart of Salento, about one hundred meters above sea level. The vineyards grow on clay and shallow soils, with good water retention that imparts minerals to the grapes. The mild climate and the temperature swings between day and night promote complex aromas and balanced ripening.
How it is produced
The harvest is carried out by hand in September with careful selection of the bunches. After a brief pre-fermentation cold maceration, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel to preserve the varietal character. Aging in oak barriques, following malolactic fermentation, enriches the wine with spicy notes and greater structure.
Tasting notes
In the glass, Bascià Notte Rossa displays a deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose it is complex, with ripe plum, red fruit jam, vanilla, and licorice. On the palate, it offers a enveloping sip, with soft tannins, balanced freshness, and a long finish with spicy hints.
Food pairings
It pairs well with flavourful pasta dishes with meat, such as orecchiette with sausage ragù, and main courses like roast beef or braised venison. It is also suitable for pork chops in sauce and grilled lamb ribs. Semi-aged cheeses with medium structure enhance its fruity and spicy components.
When to serve it
Salento Rosso Bascià offers fruity notes and soft tannins. The structure gained in the barrel brings underbrush aromas and more subtle spices. Serve slightly chilled after a short decanting to promote oxygenation.
