Description
The Pepato is a lively red wine with a bold character, produced from Vernaccia Nera grapes carefully handpicked and selected. It originates from medium-textured, sandy, and limestone hills, which give the wine a pleasant mineral imprint. Fontezoppa's interpretation of Vernaccia Nera fully expresses the identity of the Marche territory and its vocation for quality.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel, where the wine ferments and matures, preserving freshness and varietal typicity. Aging continues in large wooden barrels for 12 months, a stage that enriches the organoleptic profile without weighing it down, enhancing the spicy notes and giving elegance and harmony to the overall structure.
In appearance, it shows an intense ruby red color with vibrant reflections. The nose is broad and complex, with aromas of wild cherries and ripe plums, enriched by a note of black pepper and a delicate balsamic nuance. On the palate, it is fresh, elegant, and enveloping, with delicate tannins and a finish that recalls sweet spices.
Ideal when paired with flavorful and spicy dishes such as cured meats, aged cheeses, and roasted meats.
