Description

Galea is a red wine produced by Nals Margreid from Schiava grapes grown on the slopes of Santa Maddalena, near Bolzano, at an altitude between 250 and 350 meters above sea level. The vineyards, facing south and southeast, grow on gravelly, well-aerated porphyry soils and benefit from a Mediterranean climate with very hot summers and mild winters, which promotes full ripening of the grapes.

After manual harvesting and careful destemming, the must ferments in steel with gentle pump-overs. Malolactic fermentation and subsequent maturation take place for seven months in wooden barrels, contributing to the softness and structure of the wine without altering its freshness.

It appears light red with coppery reflections and a good density. The nose reveals delicate aromas of red fruits, wild strawberries, and raspberries, accompanied by light spicy notes and a touch of sweet almond. On the palate, it is round, with a savory backbone, juicy and pleasantly persistent.

It pairs perfectly with roasts, red meats, or beef stew.
