Description

What type of wine is it

Kerner produced by Adler von Klausen is a white wine made from 100% Kerner grapes grown on the steep slopes of the Isarco Valley in Alto Adige. It stands out for its fresh and balanced style, able to combine a clear aromatic component with a full and flavorful structure. The winemaking process aims to enhance the grape's natural qualities and preserves precision and intensity through the exclusive use of steel. The result is a technically precise and straightforward white that best expresses the winemaking vocation of the Alto Adige region.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in the vineyards of Chiusa, a locality in the province of Bolzano located in the scenic Isarco Valley. The vines grow on the highest slopes, well-exposed to the sun in the mid-valley, where temperature variations favor optimal ripening and a clear aromatic definition. The light soils, characterized by the presence of sand and gravel, give the wine a distinctly savory profile and a well-defined structure. The company name refers to the town's eagle, a historic symbol of this mountain terroir.

How it's made

Production begins with a careful manual harvest, selecting only the best bunches. In the cellar, gentle pressing of the grapes is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks, a crucial technique to maintain purity on the nose and freshness on the palate. Afterwards, the wine completes its evolution with aging on fine lees, still in steel. This prolonged contact ensures greater structure and complexity, enriching the body without the need for oxidative interventions.

Tasting notes

At serving, it appears with a bright straw yellow color shot through with clear greenish reflections. The bouquet is fresh and intense, characterized by prominent spicy and fruity notes reminiscent of nutmeg, peach, and apricot. On the palate it confirms its great balance and reveals a full and flavorful texture that prolongs the finish without ever feeling heavy. The finish remains elegant and consistent with the meticulous approach to varietal expression.

Food pairings

Thanks to its intrinsic freshness, it pairs harmoniously with light appetizers and mixed salads, enhancing vegetables and the most delicate dressings. It finds a happy balance alongside egg or mushroom dishes and accentuates the juiciness of grilled fish. Its versatility also makes it ideal for traditional local preparations, or simply served as a fragrant aperitif before sitting down at the table.

When to serve it

This label is the ideal choice for convivial occasions when you want to offer a white wine with a pronounced aromatic profile. Its measured structure makes it perfect both for opening a meal in a refreshing way, and for accompanying light dinners featuring fish or vegetable dishes. It is especially appreciated when aromatic purity and a linear flavor progression are the focus of the tasting experience.
