Description

What kind of wine is it

The Pinot Nero from Cantina Valle Isarco is a medium-bodied red, made exclusively from Pinot Nero grapes grown in Alto Adige. It stands out for its fresh and harmonious style, with fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature and aging on fine lees in oak barrels. This production process enhances the grape’s elegant profile and offers versatility for many occasions.

Where it comes from

The grapes are sourced from the vineyards of Valle Isarco, in the heart of Alto Adige. The climate is characterized by significant temperature fluctuations with cold winters and mild, breezy summers—ideal conditions for Pinot Nero to mature.

How it is produced

The grapes are harvested with careful attention to cluster quality. After destemming and crushing, traditional maceration follows. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature to preserve varietal aromas. Aging on fine lees in oak barrels helps maintain freshness and aromatic finesse.

Tasting notes

It shows a brilliant, transparent ruby red. On the nose, you find red fruits like cherry and raspberry, alongside floral hints of dried rose and a subtle touch of sweet spices. On the palate it's dry, medium-bodied, with well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a balance between fruit and wood, closing with a fresh and persistent finish.

Food pairings

This Pinot Nero pairs with delicate game such as pheasant and quail, as well as grilled or stewed red meats. It works well with roasted beef, venison stews, and medium-aged cheeses. Regional pairings include canederli allo speck, speck from Alto Adige, and polenta taragna with Casera cheese, all enhancing the wine's softness and savoriness.

When to serve

Thanks to its balanced structure and Pinot Nero’s typical freshness, the wine is ready to drink but can also develop if cellared. We recommend opening the bottle in advance and letting it breathe for about fifteen minutes before tasting.
