Description
What kind of wine is it
Feudi di San Gregorio’s Taurasi is a Campanian red wine that expresses the authentic character of Irpinian Aglianico. It is a full and balanced red, crafted for those seeking depth and persistence in the glass. This release is presented in the special "Pupazzo di Neve" package, with a festive, original design that immediately evokes the Christmas spirit and makes it a great gift idea.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in Irpinia, in Campania, a heartland for Aglianico, and is crafted by Feudi di San Gregorio, one of the region’s benchmark wineries. The grapes come from vineyards in the Irpinian area and are hand-harvested and hand-selected, ensuring carefully chosen fruit, cluster by cluster.
How it’s made
It is produced from 100% Aglianico. Fermentation with maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks for about three weeks. This is followed by 18 months of aging in medium-toast French oak barriques, which enriches the aromatic profile and softens the tannic texture. The wine then rests for a further nine months in bottle before release.
Tasting notes
On appearance it shows a bright ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose offers intense scents of sour cherry and marasca cherry, accompanied by spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, with hints of vanilla and anise. On the palate it is full and balanced, with supple tannins and an aromatic, persistent and harmonious finish.
Food pairings
Thanks to its structure and depth it is ideal with roasted red meats and richly flavored braises. It also pairs gracefully with fine poultry, where the supple tannins and spicy notes enhance the meat’s succulence.
When to serve it
A red suited to festive lunches and important dinners, when hearty, convivial dishes are on the table. Given its structure, it benefits from a brief aeration after opening, and should be served in a large-bowled glass. Thanks to the "Pupazzo di Neve" package, it is also an elegant gift idea for the Christmas season.
