Description
What type of wine is it?
Terre Siciliane Nerello Cappuccio Inessa is a red wine made from Nerello Cappuccio grapes grown in Sicily. It exhibits a structured and complex style; vinification in steel preserves the varietal freshness intact. The late ripening of the grapes brings balance between acidity and soft tannins, resulting in an elegant and harmonious profile. A short aging in the bottle defines clear aromas and good persistence.
Where does it come from?
This wine originates on the slopes of Etna, between 350 and 900 meters above sea level, in a volcanic territory with sands and layers of ash. Large temperature variations between day and night maintain acidity and encourage complex aromas. The vineyards are rooted in poor but mineral-rich soils, imparting structure and mineral finesse—an authentic expression of Etna's terroir.
How is it made?
The grapes are hand-picked at optimum ripeness and selected in the vineyard. After destemming, maceration and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to enhance the varietal characteristics. The wine is briefly aged in steel and then in the bottle, offering aromatic stability and brilliant color. This technical approach aims for a clean profile and balanced structure.
Tasting notes
A vivid deep ruby red with purple highlights in appearance. The nose reveals a bouquet of ripe red fruits such as raspberry, cherry, and plum, with light spicy notes and hints of herbs. On the palate it shows density and structure, with fruity returns and a delicate floral touch of rose and violet. The finish is long, supported by soft tannins and a freshness that invites another sip.
Pairings
Terre Siciliane Nerello Cappuccio Inessa pairs well with roast meats, savory pasta dishes such as sausage ragù and pasta alla Norma, meat casseroles, and platters of cured meats and semi-mature cheeses. Its structure and fruity components enhance traditional dishes like Sicilian caponata, achieving balance between sweet and tangy notes. The wine's natural acidity harmonizes with the fat of meat-based preparations, for a balanced pairing.
When to serve it
This Nerello Cappuccio is best enjoyed young, within the first two years after production, to appreciate its freshness and lively aromas. The tannic structure and the quality of the terroir also allow brief aging up to five years, with the emergence of spicy and earthy nuances. It is recommended to serve the wine at a temperature of 16-18°C to make the most of its sensory qualities.
