Description
Ampelio is an organic red wine produced by Azienda Agricola La Torre near Sant'Angelo in Colle, in the southern area of Montalcino. The vineyards, located on a natural south-facing terrace, benefit from an ideal microclimate thanks to the protection offered by Poggio dell'Arna and Poggio Civitella. The altitude and temperature fluctuations promote the development of intense aromas and a full-bodied structure.
Made from a blend of Alicante, Sangiovese, and Ciliegiolo, the grapes are hand-harvested in mid-September and selected to ensure the highest quality. The winemaking process involves a maceration of about twenty days using indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for 12 months in small barrels, followed by a month of bottle aging.
In appearance, it has a ruby red color. On the nose, it offers intense aromas with floral and spicy hints typical of the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is fragrant and spicy, with clear notes of wild berries and a persistent aftertaste that enhances its personality.
Ideal when paired with dishes based on red meat or game.
