Description
What kind of wine is it?
Toscana Rosso Aliotto by Tenute Lunelli is made from Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Merlot. It comes from Tuscany and displays a structured style with a clear regional character. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by twelve months of aging in barriques. The result is an elegant profile, with polished tannins and a good capacity to evolve over time.
Where it comes from
Aliotto is born in Tenuta Podernovo, on the hills of Pisa in the municipality of Terricciola.
How it is made
The grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 10-15 days. Aging continues for twelve months in barriques and then for four months in the bottle. This method aims at a good extraction of color, tannic structure and aromatic complexity without using invasive techniques.
Tasting notes
To the eye, Aliotto shows a deep ruby red with garnet highlights. The aroma suggests notes of morello cherry and ripe cherry, with hints of aromatic herbs and sweet spices, and light vanilla nuances from the wood. On the palate it offers a balanced texture, silky tannins and full structure, with a persistent and fresh finish reminiscent of red fruit.
Food pairings
It pairs well with grilled red meats and stewed game, and enhances dishes such as braised beef or peposo alla fornacina. It is also excellent with aged cheeses like Tuscan pecorino and sliced beef with arugula and parmesan flakes. Its structure is also perfect for bistecca alla fiorentina.
When to serve it
Aliotto can be appreciated when young and after a few years of maturation. Thanks to the balance between tannins and acidity, it is recommended to serve it in large glasses to best enjoy its aromatic profile and structure.
