Description
What kind of wine is it
Biserno by Tenuta di Biserno is a Toscana Rosso made from a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, grown in the Bibbona area. This is a structured and complex red wine, offering an elegant profile and soft tannins, designed for a full and harmonious expression. Vinification takes place in steel with extended maceration and ageing in French oak barriques, which imparts a velvety texture and a strong potential for evolution.
Where does it come from
This wine originates from the Tenuta di Biserno vineyards in Bibbona, Tuscany, where the blend of Bordeaux varieties interprets the land with balance and depth. The soils, partly clayey and partly of Bolgheri conglomerate, help to provide structure and definition to the palate. The imprint remains complex and elegant, with a fullness well complemented by freshness.
How is it produced
The grapes are hand-selected on a vibrating belt and vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in steel tanks for 3–4 weeks at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation occurs partly in barriques and partly in steel. Ageing goes on for 15 months in French oak barriques before the final blending and bottling.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows an intense, deep ruby red. The bouquet is complex and elegant, with ripe wild berry fruit, aromatic herbs and sweet spices, followed by toasted nuances. On the palate, it is full, velvety and enveloping, with soft tannins and balanced freshness. Its harmonious structure leads to a persistent finish, consistent with the oak ageing, and a profile ideal for bottle development.
Food pairings
At the table, it pairs well with braised dishes, stews and slow-cooked red meats, enhancing texture and intensity with its full body and soft tannins. The spicy and toasted notes blend seamlessly with the flavours of slow-cooked dishes, supporting rich foods without losing balance.
When to serve
It is recommended when you want a full-bodied, enveloping red, especially at the table with slow-cooked dishes and substantial meats. Its harmonious structure and evolutionary potential make it suitable for both immediate consumption and cellaring. The experience is maximized when seeking a velvety and balanced sip, capable of matching richly flavoured cuisine with aplomb.
