Description
The Pievasciata rosso is a Tuscan wine from the young winery Vallepicciola, located in the Pievasciata area, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where it manages 105 hectares of vineyard following the principles of sustainable agriculture.
The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese, harvested in the last third of September and coming predominantly from the Val di Picciola, Casuccio and Mordese vineyards. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for about 10–15 days. Malolactic fermentation, on the other hand, occurs in French oak barriques, where it also ages for 8–10 months. The wine rests in bottle for 4–6 months before release.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red color with purplish nuances. The nose opens with aromas of dark fruits, plum, blueberry, with balsamic and spicy notes. The palate is full-bodied and well-structured.
Ideal with roasted meats, for example pork loin with plums, or with aged cheeses.
