Raffaele Vecchione
Bold and spicy at its core, it shows notes of black plums, blackberries, juniper berries, nutmeg, cumin, coriander and cloves. The secondary core is a see-saw of ripe fruits, with rises and falls of sour cherries, dates and red plums. A fresh citrus snap frames it all with touches of chinotto and bergamot. Full-bodied, with silky, beautifully fine-grained tannins, and a glowing, impressively layered, long finish. Better from 2025.

Description

What kind of wine it is

Redigaffi by Tua Rita is a red wine made from 100% Merlot. It shows a structured and complex style, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and 18–20 months of maturation in first-fill French oak barriques. Time in wood shapes a rich texture that marries concentration and precision, with a profile for those seeking depth and aging potential.

Where it comes from

Redigaffi is born in Suvereto, in the upper Tuscan Maremma, on a patchwork of clay-rich, stony soils. These conditions support balanced ripening and broaden both aromatic complexity and structure.

How it is made

The Merlot grapes are harvested by hand. After destemming, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature, followed by maceration on the skins. Maturation continues for 18–20 months in first-fill French oak barriques, then the wine rests in bottle to integrate aromas and structure.

Tasting notes

In appearance it shows a deep ruby red with violet highlights. The nose features ripe black fruits such as blackberry, blueberry, and blackcurrant, with notes of spice, licorice, and a toasted hint. On the palate it offers a full, supple entry, polished tannins and solid structure, a balance between freshness and warmth, and a persistent finish recalling sweet spices and cocoa.

Food pairing

Redigaffi pairs with robust red meats, such as bistecca alla fiorentina or sliced beef with arugula and Parmigiano. It works well with braised game dishes and accompanies roast lamb or glazed pork shank. On an international note, it elevates boeuf bourguignon and aged hard cheeses.

When to serve it

Serve in large-bowled glasses to encourage oxygenation. The wine is enjoyable after a few years in bottle and shows best between the fourth and the tenth year. Suitable for aging, it evolves toward greater complexity while holding onto its aromatic freshness.
