Toscana IGT Turpino 2013 Querciabella
Description
The Toscana Bianco Turpino di Querciabella was born in vineyards located in the Tuscan hills. Its name pays homage to Orlando Furioso, a 16th century poem by Ludovico Ariosto.
It is produced from Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah grapes. About half of the grapes come from vineyards of the Maremma Querciabella while the rest is grown in Greve in Chianti. After pressing, the grapes ferment in oak barrels at controlled temperature for 16 months, with a cold maceration. Subsequently the wine ages in part in cement tanks and in part in barriques for about 6-8 months.
Turpino has a ruby red color. The nose opens with delicate notes of violets and berries. On the palate it releases delicate fruit notes, round and deep, accompanied by fine and silky tannins.
Perfect to combine with cheeses, white meats and noble poultry.
