Description
What kind of wine is it?
Cepparello by Isole e Olena is a Tuscan red produced exclusively with estate-grown Sangiovese from selected clones. It originates from grapes harvested in the sunniest and most wind-exposed vineyards, on well-drained galestro soils. Fermentation takes place in French oak conical vats, followed by a long period in barrique and bottle ageing, offering a full, precise, and balanced profile.
Where does it come from?
Cepparello comes from Tuscany and originates in the vineyards of Isole e Olena. The selected parcels are those best exposed to sun and wind, which favor full and consistent ripening. The naturally well-drained galestro soils help define a concentrated and pure Sangiovese, with structure and consistency on the palate.
How is it made?
The Sangiovese grapes from selected clones are rigorously handpicked between the second and third weeks of October at peak ripeness. Fermentation takes place in conical vats made of French oak, with an approach focused on extraction and precision. The wine matures for 18 months in barrique, then completes a year of bottle ageing to integrate structure and aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose, aromas of violet and rose are followed by black cherry, blackberry, and raspberry, with nuances of sweet spices, coffee, and forest floor. On the palate, it is exuberant yet balanced, with seamless texture and a long finish. Its persistence matches the nose, delivering a refined and alluring ensemble.
Food pairings
It pairs naturally with game and grilled red meats, complementing their succulence and aromatic intensity, and is also suitable with aged cheeses. Its structure and persistence make it ideal for rich and flavorful dishes, where the spicy and earthy notes establish a direct dialogue with more intense preparations.
When to serve it
This is a red to choose when you seek an estate Sangiovese offering intensity, balance, and complex aromas, perfect for important lunches and dinners featuring meat or game. The time in barrique and subsequent bottle ageing make it suitable for occasions when you desire a more integrated texture and a sharper flavor definition.
