Description
The Valtellina Superiore Sassella Petrato from Tenuta Scerscé is produced in the municipality of Sondrio, in the Sant'Anna locality. The vines are planted in sandy-loam soil with abundant gravel, moderately deep and permeable to water, which promotes the growth of high-quality Nebbiolo grapes.
Harvesting is done manually in the first week of October, collecting the grapes in boxes to preserve their integrity until vinification. This process includes a long maceration on the skins for at least 30 days. Aging continues in Slavonian and French oak barrels for about 14 months, followed by an additional 8-month period of resting in the dark cellar.
This wine stands out for its ruby red color enriched with garnet reflections. On the nose, it offers an intense fragrance of red fruits, enriched with spices and balsamic notes. On the palate, it reveals a pleasantly mineral, dry, and persistent character.
This wine is ideal for accompanying roasts, first courses, and aged cheeses.
