Description

What kind of wine is it?

Vino degli Orti di Tercic is a still white wine from the Collio hills, made from Pinot Grigio , Pinot Bianco , and Friulano . This regional blend stands out for its freshness , smoothness, and balanced structure. Vinification involves a brief cold maceration on the skins and fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, with aging on the fine lees. The profile is floral with light spice, and the finish is rounded. It is suitable for immediate consumption or for a brief aging in the bottle.

Where does it come from?

The grapes come from San Floriano del Collio , in the province of Gorizia, a hilly area on the border between Italy and Slovenia. The temperate climate, temperature ranges, and regular ventilation favor the preservation of acidity and a clean aromatic clarity. The soils of stratified marl and sandstone, known as ponca , ensure effective drainage and a mineral reserve that supports structured yet crisp white wines. The terroir's flexibility enhances both local and international varietals and maintains a clear territorial identity.

How it is produced

Production begins with the grape harvest and a 13–15-hour cold maceration on the skins , allowing for aromatic extraction without excess. After pressing, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks , preserving the varietal profile. Aging on the lees in steel for 12 months increases volume and stability, without oak, and the texture remains fresh and defined.

Tasting notes

The color is a bright straw yellow , with golden highlights that intensify with age. The nose reveals notes of white and yellow flowers , pale-fleshed fruit, and delicate spices. On the palate, it is full and smooth, supported by a freshness that makes it easy to drink. The finish is rounded, with a slight sweetness and medium persistence on floral and spicy notes, offering a balance between consistency and drinkability.

What does it pair with?

This white pairs well with seafood first courses , such as risotto and pasta with shellfish or molluscs, thanks to the softness that complements the savory flavor. It also pairs well with white meats like chicken and rabbit, baked or pan-fried with aromatic herbs. Locally, it pairs well with boreto alla graisana and fish appetizers from the Northern Adriatic. It's also excellent with fresh cheeses and delicate vegetable dishes, when you're looking for a structured yet easy-drinking white.

When to serve it

Vino degli Orti is ideal served chilled , suitable for structured aperitifs, fish-based lunches, and informal dinners where a smooth and precise white wine is desired. The recommended serving temperature is between 10 and 12°C , with a slight rise in the glass to enhance volume and spicy notes. Aging on the fine lees allows for appreciation even after several years, enhancing complexity and preserving balance. The optimal drinking period is within 3–5 years to combine freshness and full aromatic expression.
