Description
The Grande Réserve des Challières from the Bonpas estate is a red wine made from Grenache grapes grown on the gentle slopes of Ventoux, in one of the coolest microclimates of the Rhône Valley. The name of the estate originates from “Bon passage,” referring to the safe crossing of the Durance river that once connected Rome to Avignon.
The vinification involves the co-fermentation of different varieties, with physical extractions through pumping over and racking in the initial stages, followed by submerging the cap of marc at the end of fermentation, according to Rhône tradition. The process takes place at a controlled temperature of 24°C to ensure balance and elegance. Aging occurs entirely in stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromatic freshness and a smooth tannic structure.
In appearance, it is a deep purple color. The bouquet is highly expressive, with alluring aromas of ripe fruit, delicate spices, strawberry, and cherry. On the palate, it is broad and soft, with dense tannins and a herbal finish reminiscent of thyme, offering energy and liveliness to the sip.
Ideal pairing with garlic sautéed lamb, mushroom omelet, or aged cheeses.
