Description
What kind of wine is it?
Tenuta di Tavignano's Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Costa Verde is a still white wine made exclusively from Verdicchio delle Marche grapes. Temperature-controlled vinification in stainless steel maintains a fresh and linear profile, with crisp aromas and a slightly bitter finish typical of the varietal. A brief aging in the bottle prior to release integrates the aromas and flavors, offering an immediate and accessible style, perfect for those seeking an authentic and versatile white wine.
Where does it come from?
This Verdicchio is grown in Tavignano, in the Marche hills in the province of Macerata, near the Castelli di Jesi winery. The vineyards are located on hillsides with calcareous-clay soils rich in minerals, which promote acidity and a savory character. The temperate climate influenced by the Adriatic Sea and the good temperature ranges support regular ripening of the grapes and define a taut and precise style, ideal for the table.
How it is produced
Harvest begins when the grapes reach full aromatic maturity to preserve freshness and integrity. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, limiting oxidation and preserving varietal purity. Aged in stainless steel to stabilize the flavor profile, followed by at least two months in bottle to balance acidity and savory flavors. The absence of oak allows Verdicchio's authentic character to emerge.
Tasting notes
Straw yellow in color with greenish highlights, a sign of youth. The nose reveals aromas of fresh fruit, white pulp, subtle tropical notes, and white flowers, with a subtle mineral note. On the palate, it flows with good tension and is supported by lively acidity and a clear savory finish that prolongs the finish. The finish is clean and moderately bitter, a characteristic that dries out the sip and invites repeat tasting.
What does it pair with?
Its freshness and dry finish make this Verdicchio ideal for appetizers and simple fish and vegetable dishes. It pairs well with raw and marinated fish, seafood salads, grilled fillets, steamed or sautéed vegetables, and light pasta dishes with citrusy sauces. Regionally, it pairs well with brodetto all'anconetana (fish soup), balancing savory and acidic notes with the iodine and tomato notes. It's also excellent with seafood risotto or spaghetti with clams.
When to serve it
This Verdicchio expresses its best when young, enhancing its fragrance and flavorful tension, making it ideal as an aperitif or with seafood lunches and dinners. It is best served at 10-12°C, with a brief oxygenation in the glass if necessary. It maintains its clear aromas and vitality in its early years and can evolve for a short time, with softer nuances without losing its characteristic finish. It remains a reliable choice for a variety of dining occasions.
