Description
QSS Rare Grande Reserva is a red wine produced in Portugal in the Lisbon region, sourced from vineyards located in Arruda dos Vinhos, which are mainly characterized by hilly slopes. The area benefits from a Mediterranean climate with a strong Atlantic influence, promoting balanced ripening and preserving freshness and elegance in the grapes. The clay-limestone soils contribute to the structure and complexity of the wine. It is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet, varieties which impart aromatic intensity, depth, and character.
The winemaking process involves automatic pressing of the grapes followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. After fermentation, the wine undergoes partial aging in French oak barrels for a period ranging between twelve and eighteen months, a step that helps enrich the aromatic complexity and build greater structure and balance.
In the glass, it shows an intense garnet color. On the nose it offers an expressive bouquet with notes of black fruit accompanied by spicy hints of pepper and complex nuances reminiscent of truffle, harmoniously integrated with the toasted notes from the oak aging. On the palate it is concentrated, fresh, and elegant, with a balanced structure and long persistence.
It pairs particularly well with red meat dishes, game, and cured meats.
