In 1898 Francesco Nicosia decided to open the first wine shop on the eastern side of Etna, in Trecastagni. The particular location of the vineyards, located on the eastern side of Etna, gives to the wines unique characteristics of flavor and minerality, all packaged by a pleasant volcanic exuberance.
The same properties can be found in the Etna Rosso Vulkà (93 pt JS), a blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio: the wine makes a short passage in steel and tonneaux and it well expresses the impact of volcanic soils on the grapes. With a lively ruby red color, it gives to the nose hints of red fruit and spices, with good structure on the palate and pleasant roundness. Ideal in combination with semi-aged cheeses, it is perfect to accompany roast meats and fish-based dishes.

The Etna Rosso Vulkà of Nicosia was born in vineyards located on the western side of the largest volcano in Europe.
It is mainly produced with Nerello Mascalese grapes and with Nerello Cappuccio grapes, harvested and selected by hand between the second and third week of October.
