Fina
Cantine Fina is a family-run Sicilian winery, led by Bruno Fina and his sons. The wines of Cantine Fina have "character," because they are born in a challenging land and are the fruit of a deep passion for viticulture. Fina produces wines that tell the story of the land and the traditional values of Sicily. Historically, in Sicily vine cultivation began in the time of the Greeks and Phoenicians, who especially influenced the viticulture of Western Sicily. Cantine Fina is located in Marsala, in a unique area where biodiversity, microclimates, and different terroirs coexist. For Cantine Fina, making wine means ensuring the integrity of the fruit and respect for the land. The estate's vineyards are situated along the hillside near the winery and are farmed according to organic agriculture protocols. Among the main varieties grown are the indigenous Grillo, Zibibbo, Nero d’Avola, and Perricone, and the international Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, and Viognier. As for the international red varieties, there are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Syrah. The production focus of Cantine Fina is wines made from native grapes; Bruno Fina and his sons love to follow Sicilian winemaking tradition and culture.
Cantine Fina White Wine
Cantine Fina produces a remarkable selection of white wines. Among the most famous is Kebrilla, a white wine made from the indigenous Grillo, one of Sicily’s oldest varieties. It is fresh, floral, and elegant, with a citrusy, ripe palate. Part of the grapes used to make this wine comes from vineyards near the coast, situated opposite the island of Mozia. It is a sapid, saline wine, excellent as an aperitif and paired with fish dishes, cheeses, and cured meats. Besides Kebrilla, we simply have to mention Taif, made from Moscato d’Alessandria, known in Sicily as Zibibbo. It seems this variety originated in Egypt and that its name became Zibibbo in Sicily, from the Arabic zabib, meaning "dried grape." Zibibbo is usually used to produce sweet wines, but Taif is a dry white wine, perfect with fish and shellfish starters, white meats, and cheeses, thanks to its outstanding notes of peach and mandarin. If you love Sicilian wines but prefer those made from international grapes, we suggest Vola Vola and Mamarì. The first, Vola Vola, is a white wine made from Viognier, a French variety little grown in Italy that can give rise to extremely elegant wines. It shows exotic and citrus notes, intense and saline, excellent with fish dishes such as herring, mackerel, salmon, eel, or capitone, as well as with Sushi and Sashimi. The second, Mamarì, is a white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc, a French variety that arrived in Sicily around the 1990s. It offers herbaceous and vegetal notes, is very fruity, with exotic hints such as pineapple and floral ones such as broom. Excellent with hot or cold starters, it also pairs well with seafood dishes, both raw and steamed. These are just a few of the great whites—discover the Cantine Fina selection on Vino.com.
