False Bay

False Bay takes its name from South Africa's most iconic bay, surrounding many of the country's best vineyards, and was born from a desire to make 'real' wine accessible.

It all began in 1994 when Paul Boutinot arrived in the Western Cape to look for and save the grapes from the old vineyards, true treasures otherwise destined to get lost in the great cooperative blends that dominated the South African wine industry at the time.

Paul Boutinot immediately had pioneering support, deciding to start from those gems of the Cape to obtain wines with minimal intervention in the cellar, with the use of only indigenous yeasts for fermentation. The results came quickly and today the False Bay winery is one of the most successful in South Africa, with wines of unique typicality such as Chenin Blanc, Syrah, and Pinotage .

The Bush Vine of the False Bay winery is made with 100% Syrah grapes in the Stellenbosch area within the South African Coastal Region.

A few kilometres from the sea and therefore affected by the oceanic climate, the grapes undergo the effects of the night breezes for an ideal phenolic development. After the harvest carried out strictly by hand, the fermentation takes place naturally and with the use in part of whole bunches. The ageing is carried out in large barrels for a few months.
