Land of sea, sun, wind and a never ending summer, in the Manduria DOC area it is said that the wines have the scent of the sea. The Paolo Leo wine cellar is the proof of this: this winery is in fact located in the fertile and sunny Apulian peninsula, where the winds of the Ionian and Adriatic coasts give a unique native savoury character to the wine.
One in particular, the Primitivo di Manduria Passo del Cardinale, created from vineyards located between the towns of Manduria and Sava, has a recognisable spiciness because of ageing for 3 months in barriques. Deep red in colour, it is full-bodied and balanced on the palate, with a pleasantly persistent finish. Its elegant and intense spicy aromas make it perfect with first courses with ragù sauce, but also with red meats and game. This is the perfect wine to taste to be magically transported to this beautiful region caressed by the sound of the sea waves.
