Description
Fortemasso's Barbera d’Alba Superiore is made from Barbera grapes grown in Monforte d’Alba on white, marly-calcareous soils at an average altitude of 300 meters above sea level. The south-west exposure of the vineyards ensures optimal ripening, producing a structured and generous wine that enhances the typical characteristics of the grape variety.
After crushing and destemming, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with daily pump-overs to aid extraction. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is left to macerate on the skins for a week. After malolactic fermentation, it ages for 12 months in barriques and further refines in the bottle for six months before being released.
The color is intense garnet with violet reflections. The nose reveals hints of rose, blackberry, chocolate, and sweet tobacco. On the palate, it is distinguished by a harmonious, full, and savory taste, with a dry and fruity finish that provides balance and depth.
Perfect with egg pasta, grilled red meats, roasts, and aged hard cheeses.
