Description
What kind of wine is it
Barolo del Comune di Barolo Marchesi di Barolo is a red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Langhe region of Piedmont. Crafted according to traditional methods, it combines structure and precision, with a defined tannic texture and a lingering finish that develops thanks to extended oak maturation.
Where does it come from
The grapes originate from the municipality of Barolo, selected from vineyards located in the crus of Cannubi, Sarmassa, and Costa di Rose. The compact calcareous-clay marl soils, with the presence of sand and silt, guarantee a clear expression of the grape variety, with easily recognizable floral and spicy notes.
How is it made
Vinification follows a classic style, with skin maceration to extract the typical color, tannins, and aromas of Nebbiolo. The wine initially matures in French oak barriques, then continues in large Slavonian oak casks, in line with the lasting Langhe tradition.
Tasting notes
It displays a garnet red color in the glass. The bouquet evokes gentle spices, dried rose petals, red fruits, and woodland notes. On the palate, it is harmonious and elegant, with ultra-fine tannins and long, steady persistence.
Food pairings
It naturally accompanies hearty dishes such as beef stew, braised meats, and game. The tannic texture and persistence complement slow-cooked and succulent preparations, maintaining a robust and balanced sip.
When to serve it
It is recommended when a structured and well-defined red is desired, especially alongside significant dishes. The long wood aging also makes it suitable for cellaring, where the tannic component tends to integrate. Serving it at the classic structured red wine temperature enhances its balance and persistence.
